KABUL, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- Afghan security forces have discovered a vast quantity of arms and ammunition from the western Farah province and its neighboring Helmand, the state-owned Radio and Television of Afghanistan (RTA) reported on Sunday.
The weaponry which includes five Kalashnikovs, nine pistols, a rocket-propelled grenade, an American-made M-16, a large quantity of bullets, and other illegally preserved military equipment have been discovered during a series of operations in different districts of the said provinces recently, according to Abdul Mateen Qani, spokesman for the Interior Ministry.
The Afghan caretaker government has vowed to collect arms and ammunition from anyone outside the security entities, having recovered thousands of arms and ammunition, including battle tanks and artillery, since assuming power in August 2021. ■
